Khudozhnik RSFSR

 

a publishing house of the State Committee of the RSFSR on Publishing and the Artists’ Union of the RSFSR. Khudozhnik RSFSR was founded in Leningrad in 1958 on the basis of the Leningradskii Khudozhnik Publishing House. It publishes books and albums devoted to artist collectives in oblasts, krais, and autonomous republics, as well as to republic art exhibits and to individual artists and works of Russian and Soviet art. It also publishes albums of prints, engravings, postcards, catalogs, and illustrated children’s books. Facsimile albums and reproductions are also produced. The Militant Pencil (Boevoi Karandash), a group of poster artists and satirical poets, is affiliated with the publishing house. In 1978, 47 titles were published, totaling 3.4 million copies with 11.7 million printer’s sheets.
