On central southern border of OR; organized Oct 17, 1882 from Lake County. Name Origin: For the Klamath Indians; the name is probably from Chinook tlamatl, their name for the sister tribe of the Modocs; the meaning is unknown. Also spelled Claminitt and Clammittee.
