Montauk State Park
Location:21 miles southwest of Salem on Highway 119 in Dent County.
Facilities:31 basic campsites, 123 electric campsites, showers, 3 cabins, 8
sleeping cabins, 16 fourplex units, 18 motel rooms, picnic sites, 2
picnic shelters, dining lodge (seasonal), store, hiking trails.
Activities:Camping, river and stream fishing, hiking, nature programs.
Special Features:The headwaters of the Current River are generated where Pigeon Creek
merges with the 40 million gallons of water that pour daily from
Montauk Springs. The park is developed around the springs and is a
popular spot for rainbow trout fishing. An old gristmill built in 1896
is open for tours (seasonal). Visitors can also tour the park's trout
hatchery.
