Its descendents, however, are clearly frivolous bacronyms, including MUCK 'multi-user created kingdom' and MUSH 'multi-user shared hallucination.' The transitive verb mung (unrelated to these), meaning to modify (usually for the worse) or disable or destroy, was in my opinion probably invented around 1960 based on the earlier slang noun mung (which was equivalent to 'crud').
