Ness

 

(Loch Ness), a lake in northern Great Britain, in Scotland. Loch Ness lies in the Great Glen of Scotland, a glacial tectonic valley; it is approximately 40 km long, with depths to 230 m and an area of 56 sq km. The banks are high and rocky. The lake does not freeze. Its waters flow into Moray Firth of the Atlantic Ocean. Loch Ness is part of the Caledonian Canal. A “Loch Ness monster” is reputed to live in the lake.

Unusual items previously found in the loch include a 30ft Loch Ness monster model discovered on the loch bed in 2016 during a sonar search by Kongsberg Maritime and supported by The Loch Ness Project and VisitScotland.
