Round Lake State Park
Location:Northern Idaho, 10 miles south of Sandpoint.
Facilities:51 standard campsites with central water, showers, and restroom
facilities, group picnic shelter, horseshoe pits, hiking trails, boat
dock, boat launch, information center.
Activities:Camping, swimming, fishing, boating (electric motors only), bicycling, hiking,
wildlife viewing, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, ice skating,
guided nature walks, interpretive programs.
Special Features:Surrounded by a forest of towering pine, hemlock, larch, and red cedar,
58-acre Round Lake is the product of glacial activity dating back to
the Pleistocene Epoch. The lake is relatively shallow, only about 37
feet at its deepest, and offers good trout fishing. Hikers on the
park's trails will find beaver lodges, dams, and ponds, and
might glimpse a resident moose.
