That portion of the flight path which extends from the point where a descent is started to the point where the aircraft touches down on the runway.

approach path

A specific flight course laid out in the vicinity of an airport and designed to bring aircraft in to a safe landing. It is usually delineated by suitable navigational aids. The approach path lies within the approach funnel.

The computer system behind the project, which is known as Advanced Continuous Descent Approach, has been designed to select the most appropriate approach paths for incoming aircraft, help save fuel, protect the environment and improve punctuality, The Associated Press reported.
