The computer system behind the project, which is known as Advanced Continuous Descent Approach, has been designed to select the most appropriate
approach paths for incoming aircraft, help save fuel, protect the environment and improve punctuality, The Associated Press reported.
Responsibility for the crash has also been levelled at the aircraft crew who apparently did not follow charts outlining a step-down approach procedure to the airport and who were also apparently confused about whether another system used to outline the proper
approach path was operational according to the newspaper USA Today.
