cellular tablet

A tablet computer that has built-in cellular capability. Like a smartphone, a plan with a cellular carrier must be in place, which provides the tablet with a telephone number even if voice calls are not provided. However, applications such as WhatsApp, Skype and FaceTime offer voice calling to and from every tablet via Wi-Fi as long as the other party uses the same application. See cellular modem.
