Direct-access storage consisting of a large number of doughnut-shaped ferrite cores arranged on a common axis, with sense, inhibit, and set wires threaded through or around individual cores in a predetermined manner to provide fixed storage of digital data; each core rope stores one or more complete words, rather than just a single bit.
