Petrographically the section was discriminated between accretionary lapilli tuffs, fine
hyaloclastite tuffs and mudstones cycles.

The volcanic rocks from basalt-chert unit (Bbc) and hyaloclastite-mudstone unit (Bhm) are comprised of pillowed and bedded basalt,
hyaloclastite and reworked sediments.
On Campobello Island it consists of locally pyritiferous, black to grey siltstone, lithic sandstone, shale and argillite intercalated with thick (up to several tens of metres) units that contain vesicular flows, agglomerate and/or well-developed
hyaloclastite sequences.
These include abundant dark green, fine-grained, amygdaloidal, porphyritic basalt flows, and lesser pillow lava, basalt breccia and bedded

The rocks recovered include variably palagonitized glassy lavas (pillows, clinker, sheet flows) coated with manganese crusts, and
hyaloclastites. The Endeavour Seamount lava is highly plagioclasephyric, but all others are aphyric to sparsely phyric (plagioclase +/- olivine, rare clinopyroxene).
The submarine volcanic rocks include lava flows, broken pillow breccias, submarine breccias, close-packed pillow lavas and
hyaloclastites. The textures and the original mineralogy deduced from the hydrothermal phases, suggest basaltic and basaltic andesite compositions.
