Established: 1965.
Location:10 miles south of Salem, Oregon.
Facilities:Hiking trails, observation blinds, overlooks, auto tour route.
Activities:Hiking, bicycling (only on roads open to vehicles), wildlife watching, educational programs.
Special Features:Situated near the confluence of the Willamette and Santiam rivers, the refuge's fertile farmed fields, hedgerows, forests, and wetlands provide a variety of wildlife habitats.
Habitats: 2,796 acres of Willamette Valley agricultural bottomland.
Access: Roads and trails are open sunrise to sunset; some trails close seasonally (October 1 - March 31) to prevent disturbance to wintering waterfowl.
Wild life: Dusky Canada geese and many other species of waterfowl; also hawks, vultures, quail, shorebirds, bald eagle, red fox, beaver, red-legged frog, and black-tailed deer.
