Atkinson, Brooks
Atkinson, Brooks
(1894–1984) journalist, drama critic; born in Melrose, Mass. He was the erudite, highly influential theater critic for the New York Times for over 30 years (1925–42, 1946–60). After a wartime assignment as Times correspondent in China and the Soviet Union, he won a 1947 Pulitzer Prize for reporting.
