Berezhany

 

a city; administrative center of Berezhany Raion, Ternopol’ Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, on the Zolotaia Lipa River (Dnestr basin). Railroad station. Population, 14,300 (1969). There is a glass factory and a furniture combine, and enterprises of the food industry (a vegetable-drying and canning combine and a butter and cheese factory). Berezhany has an agricultural mechanization and electrification technicum and a medical school.
