Birakan

 

an urban-type settlement in Obluch’e Raion, Jewish Autonomous Oblast, Khabarovsk Krai, RSFSR. Located on the Bira River (tributary of the Amur). Station on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Population, 4,200 (1968). It has a paper factory and a logging and timber distribution establishment. There are deposits of marble in the vicinity.
