Black Rock Mountain State Park
Location:3 miles north of Clayton, off US 441.
Facilities:48 tent/trailer/RV campsites, 12 walk-in sites, 4 backcountry sites,
pioneer campground, 10 cottages, picnic areas, 2 picnic shelters,
hiking trails (11 miles), 17-acre lake, visitor center.
Activities:Camping, fishing, hiking.
Special Features:Located astride the Eastern Continental Divide at an altitude of 3,640
feet, Black Rock Mountain is the highest state park in Georgia.
Numerous scenic overlooks offer spectacular 80-mile views of the
southern Appalachians. The park is named for its sheer cliffs of
dark-colored biotite gneiss.
