Building commissioning

Building commissioning

The startup phase of a new or remodeled building. This phase includes testing and fine-tuning of the HVAC and other systems to ensure proper functioning and adherence to design criteria. Commissioning also includes preparation of the system operation manuals and instruction of the building maintenance personnel. It is a systematic process of ensuring, through documented verification, that all building systems perform interactively according to the documented design intent and the owner’s operational needs, beginning in the design phase, lasting at least one year after construction, and including the preparation of operating staff.
