Established: 1936.
Location:Southeastern Idaho, 36 miles north of Idaho Falls.
Facilities:Hiking roads.
Activities:Hiking, cross-country skiing, wildlife watching.
Special Features:Refuge provides habitat for the endangered bald eagle in the winter and occasionally the peregrine falcon in the summer. The rare trumpeter swan also nests here.
Habitats: 10,578 acres of marshes, meadows, and uplands.
Access: Year round, daylight hours.
Wild life: Mallards, pintails, gadwalls, wigeon, and Canada geese, trumpeter swan. Also moose, mule deer, and white-tailed deer, beaver, coyote, cottontail.
