Carbon footprint

A measure of the amount of carbon dioxide emitted through the combustion of fossil fuels that a community, industry, or other entity contributes to the atmosphere through energy use, transportation, and other means. A carbon footprint is often expressed as tons of carbon dioxide or tons of carbon emitted, usually on an annual basis. It is the total set of greenhouse gas emissions caused directly and indirectly by an individual, organization, event, or product.
