Council Grove State Park
Location:10 miles west of Missoula on Mullan Road.
Facilities:Picnic area, vault toilets (é), birdwatching, interpretive displays.
Activities:Fishing, bird watching, hiking, bicycling, interpretive programs.
Special Features:Park marks the site of the 1855 council between Isaac Stevens and the
Salish, Kootenai, and Pend d'Oreille Indians. Here tribal leaders
signed the Hellgate Treaty, which created the Flathead Indian
Reservation.
