Cuando

 

(also, Kwando; known as Linyanti in the lowercourse), a river in Namibia, Botswana, and Angola (in its middlecourse it forms the border between Angola and Zambia); righttributary of the Zambezi. Length, approximately 800 km. Origi-nating on the Bié plateau, the Cuando flows through savannahforests as a series of rapids; in its lower reaches, it flows througha marshy plain and receives a branch of the Okavango River onthe right. High water occurs during the rainy season (Octoberand November).
