Location:10 miles east of I-95 on GA Spur 144 (I-95 exit 90).
Facilities:65 tent/trailer/RV campsites, backcountry campsites, pioneer campground, 3 cottages, 2 picnic shelters, group shelter, playgrounds, hiking/biking trails (4.3 miles), boat ramps and dock, fishing pier, earthwork fort, Civil War museum, gift shop.
Activities:Camping, saltwater fishing, hiking, bicycling, birding, fort tours.
Special Features:Located on the south bank of the Great Ogeechee River, this park features the best-preserved earthwork fortification of the Confederacy. The sand and mud earthworks were attacked seven times by Union ironclads but did not fall until captured in 1864 by Gen. William T. Sherman during his "March to the Sea." The park's Civil War museum features an interior designed to resemble a bombproof and contains exhibits, artifacts, and a gift shop.
