Google App Engine

Google App Engine

A cloud computing platform as a service (PaaS) from Google. Launched in 2008, Google App Engine provides Tier 1 Internet access to enterprises and developers. It requires applications to be written in Python or Java and also use Google's BigTable non-relational database and GQL query language, which is similar to SQL. Existing applications typically have to be modified to use App Engine. See Google Compute Engine, Google Cloud Platform and cloud computing.
