Established: Lehman Caves National Monument proclaimed on January 24, 1922; transferred from Forest Service on August 10, 1933; made part of Great Basin National Park when established on October 27, 1986.
Location:The main park entrance is 5 miles west of Baker, Nevada, near the Nevada-Utah border.
Facilities:Campgrounds (é), picnic area, rest rooms (é), restaurant/snacks, visitor center (é), museum/exhibit, self-guided tour/trail.
Activities:Camping, hiking, horseback riding, mountain climbing, fishing, auto touring, cross-country skiing, guided cave tours, stargazing.
Special Features:A remnant icefield on 13,063-foot Wheeler Peak, 5,000-year-old bristlecone pine trees, 75-foot limestone Lexington Arch, and the tunnels and decorated galleries of Lehman Caves are the park's major features.
