Khantaiskoe

 

a lake in the Taimyr (Dolgan-Nenets) Autonomous Okrug, Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR. Lake Khantaiskoe covers an area of 882 sq km. Situated at the southwestern edge of the Putoran Plateau, it lies at an elevation of 73 m in a narrow tectonic depression. It is connected by a short, broad channel with the shallow Lake Maloe. Khantaiskoe covers an area of 58 sq km and has an indented shore. The Khantaika River, a tributary of the Enisei, flows out of the lake. Lake Khantaiskoe serves as a natural current regulator of the Khantaika Hydroelectric Power Plant.
