Komsomol’skaia Pravda Islands

 

a group of nine islands in the southwestern part of the Laptev Sea, in the Taimyr (Dolgan-Nenets) National Okrug (Krasnoiarsk Krai). The largest, the islands of Bol’shoi and Samuil, have lengths of 20 and 14 km and widths of 11 and 5.6 km, respectively. The maximum elevation is 68 m. Composed primarily of sands, they have a hilly relief covered by tundra vegetation. Some of the islands, among them Samuil Island, were discovered by V. Pronchishchev in 1736.
