Korets

 

a city (since 1940) and center of Korets Raion, Rovno Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. It is located along the Korchik River (part of the Dnieper basin), 33 km from the Novograd-Volynskii railroad junction, which has lines leading to Korosten’, Zhitomir, and Shepetovka. Korets is the site of a sugar refinery and a plastics factory. It has been known since the 12th century.
