Metol

 

p-methylaminophenol sulfate; colorless crystals. Melting point, 250°C (with decomposition). Insoluble in ordinary

organic solvents; solubility in water, 5 g per 100 g at 25°C . Oxidizes gradually in aqueous solutions.

Metol is used in photography as a developer, both alone and in combination with other developing agents (for example, hydroquinone).
