Molucca Passage
a strait lying between Sulawesi and Sangihe on the west and Halmahera on the east. It is one of the passages connecting the Pacific Ocean with the seas of the Malay Archipelago. It has a maximum depth of 3,509 m. The currents are seasonal and flow at a speed of 1.2–1.8 km per hour.
