Location:33 miles northeast of Asheville off the Blue Ridge Parkway (mile marker 355) on NC 128.
Facilities:9 primitive campsites, picnic area, picnic shelters, restaurant, trails, concession stand, visitor center, exhibit hall.
Activities:Camping, hiking, hoserback riding (along the park perimeter), nature programs.
Special Features:An observation tower located on top of the highest peak east of the Mississippi (6,684 feet) and hiking trails offer spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Park also includes the most extensive stand of Fraser fir remaining in the country.
