Mumford, L. Quincy
Mumford, L. (Lawrence) Quincy
(1903–82) librarian; born in Pitt County, N.C. The first professionally trained Librarian of Congress (1954–74), he oversaw completion of the Library's James Madison Memorial Building and greatly expanded its foreign procurement processes.
