Established: 1983. Description:National network of local preservation, historic district, and landmark commissions and boards of architectural review. Seeks to build strong local historic preservation programs throughout the United States through education, advocacy, and training. Also supports protection of historic districts and landmarks through local legislation. Maintains an information resource center. Members: 600. Dues: $35/year for commissions with a budget under $500 or local nonprofit organizations. Sliding scale of dues for larger commissions, nonprofit organizations, and communities.
Publications: The Alliance Review (bimonthly); free to members.
