Otradnoe

 

a city in Leningrad Oblast, RSFSR, under the jurisdiction of the Kirovsk city soviet. A landing on the left bank of the Neva, it has a railroad station (Pella) on the Leningrad-Volkhov line, 30 km east of Leningrad. Population, 19,000 (1974). Local plants produce ship equipment, treat masts against rot, and manufacture fishing gear and other plastic sporting goods.


Otradnoe

 

a health resort on the Baltic Sea, in Kaliningrad Oblast, RSFSR; located 40 km from Kaliningrad and 3 km from Svetlogorsk. Summers are moderately warm, with an average July temperature of 17°C, and winters are mild, with an average January temperature of – 3°C. Annual precipitation is approximately 700 mm. Otradnoe offers peat treatment and climato-therapy. Persons with nontubercular diseases of the respiratory tract are treated at the resort, as well as those suffering from disorders of the nervous and circulatory systems and diseases affecting the joints, bones, and muscles. Otradnoe has sanatoriums and houses of rest. There is a wide beach of fine sand.
