Parties

 

in judicial process, trial participants invested with certain rights. In Soviet law, the parties in a civil case are called plaintiff and defendant; the parties in a criminal case are the prosecutor, defendant, defense counsel, and victim, as well as the civil plaintiff, civil defendant, and their representatives.
