Pulangi
(lower course, Mindanao), a river on the island of Mindanao, in the Philippine Archipelago. The Pulangi is 550 km long and drains an area of approximately 16,000 sq km. It originates in the mountains of the northern section of the island. The upper course and middle course flow in a deep valley overgrown with subequatorial forests. The lower course crosses a vast swampy plain. The Pulangi empties into Illana Bay of the Celebes Sea, forming a delta. The water level is high throughout the year; the lower course is navigable. The city of Cotabato is located near the mouth of the Pulangi.
