(Revolutionary Russia), an illegal Socialist Revolutionary (SR) newspaper published between 1900 and 1905. Its founder was A. A. Argunov.
The newspaper was first published in Russia as the organ of the Union of Socialist Revolutionaries. In January 1902 it became the main organ of the Socialist Revolutionary Party. From the third issue it was published in Geneva under the editorship of M. R. Gots and V. M. Chernov. A total of 77 issues and four “flyers” were published. The newspaper dealt with the peasant and workers’ movements in Russia, social and political life, and the terrorist activity of the SR’s. It also published SR programmatic documents, which V. I. Lenin criticized in several of his articles (see Poln. sobr. soch., 5th ed., vols. 6–10).
