Summit Lake State Recreation Site
Location:Northwest of Palmer, at milepost 19.2 on Hatcher Pass Road.

Activities:Hiking, hang gliding, backcountry skiing, snow boarding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling.
Special Features:Summit Lake is a tarn (small steep-banked mountain lake or pool) with a
depth of 20 feet. West of the lake, a trail leads up a to a bluff
overlook, with views of Willow Creek drainage, the Susitna Valley, and
the western arc of the Alaska Range. The overlook is a popular launch
site for paragliders in the summer. The area above and east of the lake, April Bowl, is
popular in winter for backcountry skiing, snow boarding, and
snowshoeing. Park is also open to snowmobiling in winter.
