System/88
System/88
An earlier family of fault-tolerant midrange computers from IBM. Targeting transaction processing, System/88 enabled resources to be distributed over multiple computers while providing a single system image to the operator. Using the FTX (Fault Tolerant Unix) operating system, which supported virtual memory, System/88 was IBM's branding of Stratus Computer's Stratus/32 system in the late 1980s.Copyright © 1981-2025 by The Computer Language Company Inc.
