T Tauri wind

(tor -ÿ, -ee) A continuous flow of material from the surface of a T Tauri star. Qualitatively this flux resembles the solar wind but the amount of material lost is far greater, approaching 10^–7 solar masses per year in some cases. It is possible that this outflow acts as a braking mechanism for fast-spinning young stars. In some T Tauri stars this wind is collimated into a bipolar outflow.
