Tizen

Tizen

An open source mobile operating system supported by the Tizen Association (formerly LiMo Foundation) and the Linux Foundation. Introduced in 2011 and evolving from the MeeGo OS and LiMo 4 framework, Tizen is based on Linux, HTML5 and WAC (Wholesale Applications Community). Samsung used Tizen in its second- and fourth-generation smartwatches (see Samsung Gear and Samsung Gear S), and at the Tizen Developer Conference in mid-2014, the first Tizen smartphone (Samsung Z) was introduced for the Russian market. Tizen-based in-vehicle systems from Intel and Tizen TVs from Samsung were also demonstrated. For more information, visit www.tizenassociation.org. See MeeGo, LiMo, HTML5 and WAC.
