[‚kam·tō′thē·sən] (pharmacology)
An alkaloid belonging to the family of drugs called topoisomerase inhibitors which is used as an anticancer drug, it is the first known naturally produced DNA topoisomerase inhibitor and was originally isolated from the Chinese tree Camptothecin acuminate.
