closed runway marking
Panels placed on the ends of the runway and at regular intervals in the form of a cross, signifying that the runway is closed to all traffic. These markings are placed at each end of the runway, or the portion thereof declared closed, and additional marking shall be placed so that the interval between them does not exceed 100 ft (30 m). The panels are white. When a runway is permanently closed, all normal markings shall be obliterated. Lighting on a closed runway, or the portion thereof, shall not be operated, except as required for maintenance purposes.
