collaborative robotics

collaborative robotics

Robots that work side by side with humans. Also called "co-bots," collaborative robots are designed with specific limitations. For example, "power and force limiting" ensures that a robot making contact with a person is not harmful. For more dangerous operations, "speed and separation monitoring" makes sure that the robot is at a safe distance from a human worker. See social robot and robotics.
