A yellow to greenish-yellow fatty oil obtained from peanuts; soluble in ether, chloroform, benzine, and carbon disulfide; main components are glycerides of oleic and linoleic acids; used as an edible substitute for olive oil, and in soaps and medicine. Also known as arachis oil; earth-nut oil; katchung oil.
