postcapitalism and postcapitalist society

postcapitalism and postcapitalist society

an envisaged new form of nonsocialist society in which capitalism is no longer the dominant basis of economic organization and in which the earlier confrontation between capital and labour is no longer the main basis of politics (e.g. DAHRENDORF, 1959). The idea of such a society is akin to the notion of a knowledge-based POSTINDUSTRIAL SOCIETY (see also INFORMATION SOCIETY) in which the dominant class is an educated professional class, rather than a traditional capitalist class.
