fenugreek

Toasted fenugreek seed is actually a healthy sugar substitute, tasting somewhat like maple syrup, yet it reduces plasma glucose and insulin responses in non-insulin-dependent diabetics (lowers blood sugar). Raw fenugreek is healthy but bitter, toasting makes it more palatable. Used in treating baldness, cancer, cholesterol, diabetes, fungal infections, stomach ulcers, pain reliever, expel mucus, antiseptic, lung infections, asthma, sinus, uterine relaxant, menopause, depression, constipation. (should not be taken by pregnant women). Very popular in Indian dishes and Asia. The whole plant is edible.
