A bright-yellow liquid with an aromatic aroma, distilled from the leaves or berries of the laurel, Laurus nobilis; main components are cineole and pinene; soluble in alcohol, ether, benzene, and chloroform; used in perfumes, flavors, and medicine. Also known as sweet bay oil.
