acceleration switch[ak‚sel·ə′rā·shən ‚swich]
A switch that opens or closes in the presence of acceleration that exceeds a certain value.

A switch actuated when there is unusual acceleration. These switches are normally located in emergency locator beacons that operate when an aircraft crashes or is subject to abnormal deceleration.
