EU-funded researchers have created an adaptive bridge design methodology that boosts onboard efficiency and mitigates the risk of accidents at sea.
The EU-funded CASCADE project has drawn directly from the experience of seafarers, cross-discipline collaboration, and used innovative modelling and simulation techniques to develop its Adaptive Bridge System that recognises, prevents, and recovers from human error by enhancing the interaction between a ships bridge crew and electronic equipment.
Methodology : The project will use the design methodology to develop an Adaptive Bridge System to permanently or semi-permanently adapt the information content, distribution and presentation on the user interfaces to the current situation, relevant procedures and the needs of the individual seafarer.
