A designated area within a flight information region to which air-traffic advisory notices apply.

advisory area

A designated area within the flight information region where air traffic advisory service is available. Normally, a high volume of pilot training or an unusual type of aerial activity is carried out in an advisory area. Air traffic control service provides a much more complete service than air traffic advisory service. Advisory areas and routes are, therefore, not established within controlled airspace, but air traffic advisory service may be provided below and above control areas. An advisory area is depicted on aeronautical charts with a dotted line with the name of the area on top (e.g., _ LAGU____).
