the grass that grows on hay fields or pastures after mowing or grazing. Aftermath yields are highest on fertile soils and in regions with a humid climate. The yields are particularly high if the first mowing or grazing occurs before the crops flower and if nitrogen fertilizers are applied after mowing or grazing. The biological property of grasses to grow after mowing or grazing is is known in Russian as otavnost’.
